Description:

North America, Southern United States, Florida, Marion County, Pleistocene, ca. 1.5 million to 10,000 years ago. A truly rare find: a nearly complete Pleistocene Black Bear mandible with an intact molar! Fossils of this bear (Ursus americanus) from the Late Pleistocene are exceptionally scarce, making this jaw a unique addition to any collection. Found in a submerged limestone fissure in a Florida river deposit, this specimen offers a glimpse into ancient ecosystems rarely seen in the southeastern U.S. Limited availability makes this a must-have for advanced collectors and museums interested in rare prehistoric mammal exhibits. Size of jawbone: 4.25" L (10.8 cm); tooth: 0.85" L (2.2 cm)
