Central High Atlas Mountains, Morocco, Late Cretaceous (Turonian), ca. 90 million years ago. This is an uncommon species of horned ammonite in the Mammite genus. Two rows of tubercles run along the outer shell, a slightly recessed spiral center, and suture patterning across the surface, make this a spectacular display specimen with exceptional preservation! The ammonite has been prepared to stand at an angle on its original matrix which has been prepared to serve as a natural base to stand on, and can be viewed at any angle! Size: 8" Diameter x 4.25" W x 8.5" H (20.3 cm x 10.8 cm x 21.6 cm)
