Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Valdivian culture, ca. 4000 to 3500 BCE. A small, cylindrical carved piece of creamy white and grey stone representational figure, highly polished, with an incised design that some archaeologists have thought of as highly abstract feminine. These figures were found near hearths and food preparation areas, as well as in burials of important personages. Size: 0.6" W x 1.45" H (1.5 cm x 3.7 cm)
