Description:

Eastern Europe, Neolithic Period, ca. late 4th to early 3rd millennium BCE. A hand-built ceramic vase with a petite circular base, a widened body, tapering walls, and a flared rim. The exterior of the vessel is adorned with a series of black-painted wave-form motifs with two tall panels of densely-congregated vertical lines separating each section. The dark detailing is presented atop a pale-orange ground. Size: 7" W x 6.9" H (17.8 cm x 17.5 cm).

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full report will accompany purchase.

  • Condition: Vessel repaired from several large pieces with some areas of restoration, resurfacing, overpainting, and light adhesive residue along break lines. Surface wear and abrasions commensurate with age, small nicks and chips to rim, body, and base, with fading to some areas of pigmentation. Light earthen deposits throughout.
