Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Coastal / Manabi region, Manteno-Huancavilca culture, ca. 1000 to 1400 CE. A pottery headrest upon a flat base and 2 columns supporting the curved platform for the neck to rest on. The surface is lightly scored with incised V shaped lines. Head or neck rests are incredibly rare in the ancient Americas. Size: 6" L x 3" W x 4" H (15.2 cm x 7.6 cm x 10.2 cm)
