Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A stunning carved greenstone seated figure of a stylized, abstract form with his openwork arms resting upon the knees of his upraised legs. Characteristic of Colima figures, he presents a rounded face with an expressive visage comprised of a circular drilled mouth and eyes and a projecting nose. Upon close examination one will notice that his ears are actually pierced to suspend ornaments. In addition to this wonderfully delineated form is the inherent beauty of this stone of deep green hues with marvelous white inclusions. Quite a rare example from the ancients of Colima. Round custom, museum-quality stand. Size: 1.875" W x 2.75" H (4.8 cm x 7 cm)
