Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chimu, ca. 1100 to 1400 CE. A very long and beautifully composed necklace comprised of delicate tubular bird bones, petite spherical white and black shells, flat round shell beads of various hues including opaque white, coral red, golden ochre, blue-black, and cream, small tubular green shell beads, and an elegant hammered silver rectangular pendant incised with the face of a deity that is suspended from a rectangular bead made of bone and adorned with six piercings and a repeated black concentric circle motif. Quite rare and impressive! Size: necklace is 44" L (111.8 cm); 46" L (116.8 cm) with pendant.

Provenance: Ex Boston, MA collection acquired before 1975
