Description:

Pre-Columbian, Northern Mexico, Chihuahua region, Casas Grandes culture, Ramos Polychrome type, ca. 1150 to 1450 CE. A rare example of a hand-built pottery jar of rectangular form, with the vertical walls slightly tapering down towards the base. Two sides of the vessel are adorned with dense linear, zigzag, and crosshatch motifs while the other 2 shoulders exhibit vibrant red pigment that forms sweeping forms and concentric circles. Size: 6.875" L x 6.875" W x 5" H (17.5 cm x 17.5 cm x 12.7 cm)

Provenance: ex-private USA collection, acquired before 2000 from noted dealer Robert Anderson, Mason City, Iowa, USA; all items from this collection have been appraised by Marianne Huber in 2014
