Description:

Pre-Columbian, Northern Mexico and Southwestern United States, New Mexico, Casas Grandes, ca. 1200 to 1450 CE. A pair of hand-built pottery vessels: a storage jar and a conical bowl upon a pedestal foot. The larger vessel has a rounded but stable base, gently carinated body and sloped shoulder leading up to a flared rim. The surface is slipped in a brick red then over painted with the black to create a wavy motif and solid band just about the base. The other blackware vessel has an unusual flared and concave foot with a thick stem that supports the bowl, the sides incurved. Size: 6.5" Diameter x 5.5" H (16.5 cm x 14 cm)

  • Condition: Blackware pedestal bowl repaired and restored. Chips to rim and hairline fissures on foot. Pot is excellent with minor age expected surface wear and nice manganese deposits on the surface.
