Description:

Ancient Near East, Canaanite, Middle Bronze Age, ca. 1650 to 1550 BCE. A fascinating, rare example of a ceramic pouring vessel with a foot made of a tall flared platform and three loops of ceramic attached to the lower body at their upper end and the edges of the flared foot at the lower. The body is rounded, almost apple-shaped, with a wide, flaring neck with incredibly thin walls that terminates in an unpronounced rim. Delicate dark brown lines encircle the cream-colored body in a style known as chocolate-on-white. Size: 4.9" W x 6.25" H (12.4 cm x 15.9 cm)

Provenance: private East Coast, USA collection; ex-Khader Mbaidum & Sons, Jerusalem, acquired in February 2011; discovered in Judea in the 1950s
