Native American, Southwest, Four Corners Area, Anasazi, ca. 800 to 1100 CE. A skillfully handbuilt, black-on-white pottery effigy vessel in the form of an animal, possibly based in nature, possibly of the imaginary realm, its oblong body featuring a maze of step motifs, with an applied head and tail at either end, its visage comprised of large eyes, a squared off snout, and pointy ears, and an open spout rising from the back. Quite rare to find. Size: 7" L x 2.625" H (17.8 cm x 6.7 cm)
