New World, Mexico, Spanish Colonial period, ca. 18th century CE. A fabulous and rare matched pair of iron spurs. Each is a simple curve with a thick leather strap for attachment. At the nadir of the curve of each is an arch, a thick spherical curve, and a long, tapering spike - poor horse! A wonderful artifact of the vaquero, the Mexican cowboy. Size of one: 3.05" W x 11" H (7.7 cm x 27.9 cm)
