Description:

Burma (present day Myanmar), Naga people, ca. 18th century CE. A stunning glass bead necklace made by the Naga culture composed of five sections of thirty-eight to forty strands of red white heart and white glass seed beads (with an occasional blue or gold hued bead) - making for hundreds of beads; four pairs of very large faceted bronze beads tastefully placed at the lower ends and upper termini of the necklace; twisted macrame cords around the nape of the neck. The Naga people are a combination of tribes in northeastern India and northwestern Burma known for their artistry, particularly when it comes to jewelry.
