Central Asia, South Caucasus region, Azerbaijan / Northwestern Iran, Seljuk Empire, ca. 12th century CE. This buffware pottery lamp dates to a period marked by rich ceramic craftsmanship. Made from buff-colored clay, the lamp includes a traditional oil reservoir with a spout for a wick, exemplifying the practical yet artistic qualities of buffware ceramics. The vessel's smooth surface and subtle geometric patterns reflect regional influences, showcasing a skillful approach to pottery that merges functionality with aesthetic simplicity.
