Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Middle Cauca / Quimbaya culture, ca 11th to 12th century CE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery slab figure seated upon a relatively planar base with thick, bent legs, and large arms with incised grooves around the shoulders and wrists curve down to the tops of the thighs. Several perforations are visible lining the brow, chest, and atop the head, perhaps for additional ornamentation, and the minimalist visage features slit-form eyes and lips as well as a bulbous nose with a pierced septum. Size: 6.125" W x 7.4" H (15.6 cm x 18.8 cm)
