East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, Guangxu Period, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. An elegant, tall, blue and white ware porcelain vessel with a fitted porcelain lid. The body of the vessel has been glazed with a scene in dark blue that depicts a tranquil natural setting with towering mountains, trees, and flowing water, with a series of thatched roof structures on the shore and in a meadow. On the lid is a beautiful scene of a bridge with two low, punt-like fishing boats in the foreground. Size: 3.65" W x 4.7" H (9.3 cm x 11.9 cm)
