Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd century CE. An elegant free-blown jug comprised of translucent yellow-green glass. The vessel has a spherical body supported by an applied circular foot, a tall, narrow neck, a splayed rim with an in-folded lip, and an applied trail handle with a folded thumb rest finial. The exterior is embellished with a single continuous trail of clear glass that spirals from the neck to just above the foot. Scattered areas of faint silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence complement the verdant spring hues of this fine example. Size: 2.75" W x 5.1" H (7 cm x 13 cm).
