Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. A gorgeous 22K+ gold ring with a thin band and wide, near-flat bezel with an inlaid agate cameo. The cameo features a profile head of a Hellenistic king, probably modeled on Alexander the Great or possibly a youthful Hercules (without a beard). The face is unlined, surrounded by curly hair, with a strong nose and handsome features. A thin circlet sits atop his head, nestled in his hair. Size of cameo: .55" H (1.4 cm); size of ring: 0.75" W (1.9 cm); total weight: 4.6 grams; US ring size: 1
