Description:

Native American, southeastern United States, Late Woodland to Early Mississippian period, ca. 1000 BCE to 800 CE. An extremely rare, museum quality spatula hand-carved from White Lauderdale Limestone, found in LV-34 in Lauderdale County, Alabama by Lt. Ed Holland (Game Warden) in the Winter of 1968. Spatulas were hafted on poles in the center of the village near the Shaman's Wigwam. According to a label that accompanies this piece, it has been featuree in several bulletins, manuals and books and was part of the Oscar Grogan collection. Size: 5.25" W x 6.5" H (13.3 cm x 16.5 cm)
