Description:

Native American, central/eastern United States, Hopewell Indians, ca. 100 BCE to 500 CE. A beautiful Hopewell female effigy, hand-carved from mottled grey stone with beige, brown, and russet inclusions. The woman sits with her bent legs tucked to her left side, and has one arm draped to her knees while her left hand grasps her right elbow. A knee-length skirt covers most of her lower body, and a beaded necklace adorns her neck and drapes down the top of her back. Incised ovoid eyes, a slender nose, wavy lips, and nicely-contoured cheeks comprise her elegant visage, and a small tab protrudes from atop her shoulder-length coiffure. Custom wooden display stand included. Size: 2.2" W x 4.3" H (5.6 cm x 10.9 cm); 5.8" H (14.7 cm) on included custom stand.
