Description:

Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic to Ptolemaic Period, ca. 664 to 30 BCE. A mold-formed faience crocodile amulet covered in turquoise-hued glaze. The slender reptile lays atop an integral plinth with its head raised, the narrow snout in the air, with a pierced suspension loop just beneath. This pendant is perhaps representative of Sobek, the crocodile-headed god of fertility who is said to have created the waters of the Nile River. Size: 1.46" L x 0.32" W x 0.58" H (3.7 cm x 0.8 cm x 1.5 cm)
