Description:

Egyptian, Late Ptolemaic, 2nd to 1st century BCE. A very fine leaded bronze statue of a Harpokrates/Eros - chubby, nude and winged as is characteristic of Eros, the Classical child god of love, as well as crowned, holding a cornucopia in his left hand, and lifting the finger of his right hand to his mouth befitting of the Egyptian child god of silence, Harpocrates. The figure stands in contrapposto on an integral spool-shaped base and is finely modeled with fine facial features, a curly coiffure, and feathered wings. An exquisite example! Size: 3.3" H (8.4 cm)
