Description:

Classical World, Italic Peoples, Etruria, ca. late 4th to early 3rd century BCE. A handsome bronze figure of a male votary with arms lowered and palms upward as though giving an offering, as a voluminous mantle drapes his left shoulder covering a short-sleeved tunic. His mantle is adorned with a hatched edge, while a dotted border embellishes the collar and sleeve of his tunic. A shaggy, cap-like coiffure surmounts his head, textured with carefully incised strands, and sitting above his round eyes, broad nose, and fleshy lips. Likely a votive dedication at a sanctuary, the delicate modeling and decorative details of this figure exemplify the skill of Etruscan artisans working in the highly prized medium of bronze. Size: 2" W x 4.5" H (5.1 cm x 11.4 cm); 5" H (12.7 cm) on included custom stand.
