Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Proto Nazca, ca. 500 to 300 BCE. A wonderful textile sash of a lengthy form and composed of tightly woven camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers in hues of crimson, cream, aqua, citrine, cobalt blue, fuchsia, and coffee. Coursing across the sash is a dense maze of erratically curved lines that rearranges its course to a repeating zigzagging motif. Mounted on a museum-quality display fabric. Size (textile): 50.75" L x 3.25" W (128.9 cm x 8.3 cm); (display fabric): 73.5" L x 15.75" W (186.7 cm x 40 cm).

Provenance: private Hawaii, USA collection; ex-private Hans Juergen Westermann collection, Germany, acquired in the 1950s to 1960s
