Description:

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Proto-Nazca, ca. 100 BCE. A large and beautiful textile panel composed of loosely-woven camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers in hues of maroon, umber, and citrine. The dyed panel is decorated with dozens of diamond-form shapes, each with a darker interior square. Peru stands out for its tradition of textile art in which coloring the textiles with bright dyes plays a central role. Elegant and finely-woven, this is a wonderful example from ancient Peru! Size: 43.5" L x 27" W (110.5 cm x 68.6 cm).
