Description:

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Proto Nazca, ca. 500 to 300 BCE. A fine textile border panel comprised of tightly-woven camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers in hues of coffee, crimson, golden-yellow, wheat, and jet. The panel has a rectangular body of deep brown hues, and a lengthy strip is sewn to one side and consists of 14 abstract geometric panels replete with forked, spiraled, and fretted motifs. Mounted on a fabric backing. Size (textile): 50.75" L x 7.5" W (128.9 cm x 19 cm); size (backing): 60" L x 16" W (152.4 cm x 40.6 cm).
