Description:

Central Europe, proto-Celtic (Urnfield) culture, ca. 1000 BCE. This is a beautiful small dagger blade made of bronze with a rounded, punched end that may have been inlaid into a piece of wood or bone at one time. This is probably from the western part of central Europe, maybe the Alpine region, based on the fact that elites in that area were often buried with daggers or swords and this elaborate item almost certainly came from a grave. Size: 5.75" L x 1.3" W (14.6 cm x 3.3 cm)

Provenance: Ex-Estate of John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo was one of the largest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.
