Tony O. Champagne (American, d. 2018). New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival poster - serigraph, 1993. Numbered 1934/3000. A vintage poster for the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival featuring Henry Roeland "Roy" Byrd (December 19, 1918 – January 30, 1980), better known as Professor Longhair or "Fess" for short. Professor Longhair was an American singer and pianist best known for performing New Orleans blues. Fess' piano style has been described as "instantly recognizable, combining rumba, mambo, and calypso." Rising to fame during the heyday of early rhythm and blues, he had a resurgence after the founding of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in 1970. A wonderful vintage poster for the prestigious New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival featuring Professor Longhair, a New Orleans jazz legend, mounted in a custom frame.   • Condition: Poster is mounted under glass in a custom matte and frame. It has not been examined outside the frame but appears to be in good condition save light crease marks at upper left. There are some cracks in glass at lower right edge. Poster could be removed from the frame if desired.
