Description:

Native American, northeastern US, Middle Woodland period, ca. 200 BCE to 500 CE. A wonderful hand-built terracotta vessel with a highly-burnished exterior and a round but stable base. The jar showcases a bulbous body, tapered neck line, thin rim, and a wide mouth, all in an umber-hued slip. The interior of the vessel exhibits a dark-gray color, and light-brown earthen deposits provide an interesting palette of complementary hues. A beautiful vessel from one of the earliest known native North American tribes! Size: 7" H (17.8 cm).
