Native American, Southeast or Midwest, Mississippian, ca. 1000 to 1360 CE. A delightful grayware jar presenting a globular body that tapers to a brief, cylindrical neck and a gently flared rim. Areas of black and yellow staining on the exterior may be remains of decoration done via the negative resist technique. Size: 7.5" Diameter x 8.3" H (19 cm x 21.1 cm)

  • Condition: Minor repairs to neck and rim with light restoration over break lines. Chipping to rim. Expected nicks, pitting, and abrasions throughout. Some areas of fire-darkening to exterior. Otherwise, body is intact and whole jar is very nice.
