Description:

Native American, Southern United States, Mississippi, Lee County, Mississippian culture, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. A fine collection of 4 hand-knapped stone tools. The stone is a smokey gray chert and each blade is shaped with a straight edge that tapers to a pointed tip. The process for shaping these blades involved hitting a harder stone against the chert to flake or knap the surface into the desired form. These could have served a variety of purposes, such as scrapers or cutting tools. Size of largest: 2.875" L x 1.375" W (7.3 cm x 3.5 cm)
