Native American, Southeast or Midwest, Mississippian, ca. 900 to 1543 CE. A handmade pottery jar presenting with a round yet stable base, a bulbous body, a slender tubular neck, and a slightly flared circular rim. The ancient vessel is skillfully incised with a series of geometric designs, including a large register of 5 arches, each with an interior of two parallel spiked lines, across a lattice-work background below 4 horizontal bands, all embellished with zig-zag motifs. An attractive Mississippian vessel. Size: 5.75" in diameter x 8.5" H (14.6 cm x 21.6 cm)
