Description:

Ancient Seas, Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras, ca. 28 to 2.6 million years ago. This is a fossilized tooth from a prehistoric megalodon - the largest fish and shark to ever exist! The coloration on this tooth is enhanced by polishing the enamel on the obverse face to a silky and glassy texture, revealing the inner layers of the brown matrix underneath the taupe enamel. Megalodons were one of the apex predators of the prehistoric oceans, but their teeth are the only parts that fossilized since these monstrous fish were mostly cartilage! Size: 5.2" L x 3.87" W (13.2 cm x 9.8 cm); 5.5" H (14 cm) on included custom stand.
