Native American, Southwestern United States, Hohokam, ca. 900 to 1400 CE. A hand-carved stone mortar of unusual rectangular form with a shallow central well. Included is a conical pestle used for grinding any substances that were put into the mortar. Size (mortar): 6.625" L x 6.25" W x 2.8" H (16.8 cm x 15.9 cm x 7.1 cm); (pestle): 2.2" W x 4.25" H (5.6 cm x 10.8 cm)
