Description:

Native American, southwestern United States, Four Corners region, southern Colorado Plateau, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), ca. 1030 to 1175 CE. An attractive redware pottery bowl of the Wingate Red-on-Black type with a round but stable base, gently expanding walls, a thin rim, and a deep interior basin. Within the basin is an intricate, black-painted decorative program consisting of a central black band with serrated forms projecting both above and below the middle as well as stripe-filled triangular forms within the empty spaces between. The middle of the basin is left unadorned and provides an intriguing void in the otherwise densely decorated area. Size: 9.5" W x 4" H (24.1 cm x 10.2 cm)
