Description:

Native American, Southwestern United States, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), ca. 900 to 1300 CE. A hand-built pottery bowl with a series of black and orange geometric motifs painted on both the exterior surfaces and the basin interior. The hemispherical vessel exhibits a stable base and thick walls. The decorations within the basin suggest this bowl was used for a task other than cooking or eating prepared food, perhaps for storing medicinal ingredients or hunting tools. Size: 7.25" Diameter x 2.5" H (18.4 cm x 6.4 cm)

  • Condition: Repair and restoration to small area of rim, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Abrasions and expected nicks commensurate with age, with fading and abrasions to pigment, and light pitting in scattered areas, otherwise in great condition. Nice remaining pigment along interior and exterior surfaces.
