Native American, Southwestern United States, Arizona, Chaco Canyon type, ca. 1150 to 1250 CE. A hemispherical bowl of white-ground presentation bearing an elaborate series of black-painted linear decorations within the basin. Some of the bands spiral around themselves with terminals ending in large triangles, and others have slender tendrils that coil into tight helices. The abstract motifs perhaps represent meteorological events or represent physical landmarks. Size: 8.44" Diameter x 3.8" H (21.4 cm x 9.7 cm)
