Description:

Native American, Southwest, Chaco Canyon, Anasazi, ca. 1000 to 1200 CE. Handbuilt of white clay, constructed using the coiling-and-scraping technique, beautifully decorated on the interior with registers of zigzags in red slip on white ground, designs ancestral to the Hopi. A wonderful piece of visual culture from the Ancestral Puebloans, particularly as the introduction of pottery, probably from the south, marked the origination of the culture that we call Anasazi. Size: 7-1/4" in diameter x 3" Provenance: Ex-private Carlsbad, CA collection, acquired before 1990. All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
