Native American, southwestern United States, Four Corners region, Southern Colorado Plateau, Pueblo III period, ca. 1050 to 1175 CE. A fine ceramic mug, painted in the style most commonly excavated at the great Anasazi city of Chaco Canyon known as "Red Mesa Black-on-White." The exterior is painted fully white, and an intricate geometric register of applied black mineral pigment encircles the walls, forming repeated labyrinths and mountain-like motifs. Size: 4.35" W x 4.55" H (11 cm x 11.6 cm)
