Description:

Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Tairona, ca. 500 to 1000 CE. This is a blackware pottery flared rim bowl that stands on a low pedestal foot and has a crimped decoration around the lower rim of the bowl. The Tairona lived in what is today coastal eastern Colombia and their descendants live in the mountains to the south. Blackware vessels were glazed before firing, and were generally reserved for ceremonial rather than utilitarian uses. Size: 5"H x 6-3/4" in diameter at its widest point.

Provenance: Ex-Robert Pearson Collection acquired from Arte Primitivo, NYC, NY.
