Pre-Columbian, Ecuador or Colombia, ca. 100 to 1400 CE. A fascinating stone human shaped effigy and tool, shaped as an abstract figure with arms founded across the chest. The rounded body may have functioned as a pounder as part of a pestle or anvil like tool to grind or shape. Pestles like this were used to prepare medicinal or shamanic ingredients such as coca leaves and lime. Size: 3" L x 1.5" W (7.6 cm x 3.8 cm)
