Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A hand-knapped obsidian core and knife exhibiting classic forms. The larger core was at one time of conical form but was then flaked in order to create razor-sharp blades. The slender knife features a raised midrib that is flanked by sharp edges intended for cutting and slicing tough materials. Size of largest (core): 7.5" L x 1.8" W (19 cm x 4.6 cm)
