Starts at $175 Small vessel incorporating the form of a human face, from ancient Colombia, circa 850 - 1500 CE. Measures approximately 3-1/4" tall x about 3-1/4" wide. The form of this vessel is that of a small olla featuring a modelled human face on the front. The exterior is elaborately decorated with complex negative resist technique patterns, for which Narino pottery is so well known. This vessel may have been used for storing lime, used in the chewing of Coca leaves by the ancient cultures of his region. Provenance: Former D. King private collection, Arizona, USA.
