Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche, ca. 500 to 700 CE. A hand-built pottery stirrup vessel with a flat base, a carinated body, a sloped shoulder, and a stirrup-shaped handle, all beneath a cylindrical spout. Highly burnished and presented in hues of burnt sienna and black, the body is adorned with a pair of circular bands embellished with dozens of petite spots. A petite nubbin rises from one upper corner of the handle. Size: 5.25" W x 7.1" H (13.3 cm x 18 cm)

  • Condition: Repaired from multiple pieces, with small chips and losses as well as adhesive residue along break lines. Abrasions and fading to pigment, with chips to body and spout rim. Nice remains of pigment across vessel. Old inventory label beneath base.
