Description:

Pre-Columbian, from the La Tolita culture of ancient Ecuador, ca. 300 BCE  - 300 CE.  Detailed features suggest this depicts a Parrot, which measures approximately 5" from the tip of the beak to the tip of the tail, standing about 3-1/2" tall. The original pigment has eroded away over the millennia, revealing the buff terracotta beneath, which is overwhelmingly typical for such objects. The surface exhibits wonderful original firing clouds from conditions in the firing environment when this object was made by the ancient maker.  Remnants of mineral and sediment deposits remain, indicative of the age and authenticity of this item. Provenance: Former  C. Thomas, Florida, USA private collection. All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. #101707
