Pre-Columbian, southern Mexico to Guatemala, Olmec, ca. 900 to 500 BCE; southern Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala culture, ca. 500 to 100 BCE; Ecuador, Bahia culture, ca. 300 to 500 CE; southern Mexico to Guatemala, Maya, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A fine gathering of 14 pendants formed from pottery or carved from greenstone or jade; included is one modern agate head. Two Olmec amulets depict broad celts. Three Mezcala pieces show abstract heads and a standing figure. Two Bahia pendants show an abstract head and a standing figure. Seven Maya pendants include a finely detailed head and minimalist forms. Size of largest (Mezcala head): 0.875" W x 1.4" H (2.2 cm x 3.6 cm)
