Description:

Pre-Columbian, from Southern Mexico, Guerrero, Ca 500 BC. Nice long strand of variegated stone beads, perhaps varieties of diorite, metadiorite, and porphyry, all in breathtaking shades of pale green akin to celadon. The variegated patterns of each bead are so intricate and truly mesmerizing. The beads were carved in a variety of shapes including cylindrical, lozenge, and round. Each bead was painstakingly hand cut and polished by the ancients. The design of the necklace boasts a balanced symmetry centering on a large rounded pendant bead. The longest bead measures about 1-1/4" long. Diameters of the beads range from 1/2" (1.25 cm) to 3/4" (~2cm). Necklace measures just under 20"L (~51 cm) long. Provenance: Ex-Adeon Gallery, Chicago, IL, acquired prior to 1970. All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. #102488
