Description:

Pre-Columbian, Bolivia, probably Tiahuanaco (Tiwanaku), ca. 400 to 1100 CE. A conical ceramic kero (quero, qero) with abstract stepped and linear motifs painted in black, red, orange, and pale red around its body. The stepped pattern has been interpreted as symbolic of a pyramid. This type of kero was probably made to be used in rituals involving hallucinogenic drugs. Size: 5" W x 7.2" H (12.7 cm x 18.3 cm); 7.55" H (19.2 cm) on included custom stand.
