Starts at $400 Rare type of Pre-Columbian Colima figure distinct to the ancient Coahuayana Valley region of Colima, West Mexico, circa 300 B.C. - 300 A.D. Measures impressively at approximately 9-1/4" tall x about 7-1/2" wide. The form of this hollow figural vessel is that of a seated female. She is shown with one hand up to the side of her face, with ritual scarification on her left shoulder, wearing ear spools, a beaded necklace, arm bands/bracelets, and with enlarged, exposed genitalia- perhaps suggesting connotations of fertility. This is a large and relatively rare type of Colima figure, of a type known to be distinctly found in the Coahuayana Valley region. Provenance: Former Lynn Langdon collection of West Mexican artifacts, collected personally by Langdon pre-1970.

- Condition: Intact, with minor restoration to chipping/loss to a very small part the figure's right eye and eyebrow. Otherwise, this piece has only been minimally cleaned by a professional. Minor weathering, wear, chipping and abrasions overall, with sediment and mineral deposits remaining from thousands of years of burial.
