Starts at $140 Ancient whistle in the form of a bird from the Colima region of West Mexico, circa 200 B.C. - 200 A.D. Measures approximately 2 3/4" tall. This whistle figure depicts a bird wearing elaborate head ornamentation. The depiction of the button-like adornments on the head dressing suggest the form of Peyote buds. As such, this object may have been associated with ritual or ceremonial use by a shaman. Provenance: Former reputable New York, USA dealer.
